Meet Our Leadership Team at Medcare: Dr. Azad Moopen is the Founder Chairman & Managing Director of Aster DM Healthcare. He is a gold medalist in Medicine, trained in General Medicine at the University of Calicut, and holds a diploma in Tuberculosis and Chest Diseases from Delhi University. He has guided Aster DM Healthcare’s strategy and growth since its inception and has been honored with recognitions such as the Padma Shri (2011) and Pravasi Bharatiya Samman (2010), among others. Alisha Moopen serves as Deputy Managing Director of Aster DM Healthcare, overseeing strategic direction and development; she has been acknowledged as a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader (2018) and appears on multiple leadership lists, in addition to roles with Aster Foundation and Aster Volunteers. Dr. Shanila Laiju is the Chief Executive Officer of Medcare Hospitals and Medical Centres in the UAE. Starting in dentistry in 1994, she advanced into hospital administration, leading as Clinic Supervisor, Operations Manager, Group COO, and now Group CEO. She is known for hands-on leadership, strategic planning, capital projects, sustainability initiatives, and mentorship in the Women Leadership program within the Aster DM Healthcare group.
